- A c program for an ultrasonic range finder please :) ?
need a program to display the distance the range finder is going to show, therefore it needs interrupts and a timer thanks if anyone can write a quick one! :)

A Show your code. = Then people can work with you to get it working right.
- Ultrasonic Transducers as range finders?
Hey guys, I would like to use 2 ultrasonic transducers along with VHDL and a Spartan 3e FPGA board, in order to make a "musical instrument" that plays a frequency depending on the distance that the transducers read. I know that someone in this class last year used these as a range finder as well, but I'm not real sure how. I don't have much electrical experience so I am looking for some help with just how to get a reading on an oscilloscope representing the distance reading. One transducer is a reciever and one is an transmitter. Here they are: http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=255-400ST12P-ROXvirtualkey12800000virtualkey255-400ST12P-ROX I was thinking about setting it up like page 3 of this link below, but I figured I'd ask if this is the right idea. http://iopscience.iop.org/0031-9120/38/5/310/pdf/pe3510.pdf

A The web page is not accessible to outsiders. To range-find at 40kHz, basically you set your circuit up to ping like sonar on a submarine. You send out a short burst of sound (say 10 cycles) from the transmitter, and time how long it takes for the receiver to hear a sound reflection. Knowing the speed of sound in air, you can compute the distance (dividing by two for the going and return trip). Your algorithm would need to time out in the event that there was no detectable echo. The wavelength of 40kHz sound in air is approximately 0.339 inches. That value varies depending upon the temperature and humidity of the air. What that short wavelength means is that you can't use continuous transmission and look at the phase difference between transmitted and received signals to ascertain absolute distance. But you *could* use a changing phase difference to indicate whether the object was approaching, stationary, or receding. That in turn could control the pitch, so pitch would be based on speed rather than distance, in case that is of interest. Here's a wavelength calculator: http://www.mcsquared.com/wavelength.htm The transducer you referenced is out of stock. You might want to pick one that is in stock: http://www.mouser.com/Electromechanical/Speakers-Transducers/_/N-wp8tZscv7?P=1z0x3v5Z1z0x18e&Ns=Pricing%7c0

another installation exercise. idea copied from another installation for ease. Ultrasonic range finder is used to detect distance of object form it and data is processed in flash, and displayed in form of grass. same technique cna apply to many other skin like running people (from the UFO... ) etc . Exercise done by kitdashit.com sorry guys that I CANT LEAVE COMMENTS on youtube... i dunno why here's my reply --------------------- hi all ultrasonic range meter... just buy it from electronic store ! and use arduino board from arduino.cc to build things up with processing or with Flash ~ -------------------
